"Dear employees, customers, suppliers and Sharrcem friends welcome to Sharrcem's first Open Day.

It is almost 9 years ago when Holcim signed a contract with at KTA to manage Sharr. During these 9 years we have constantly increased our performance and become one of the most respected companies in Kosovo. Today, we are for our more than 500 employees and theirs families a reliable employee and even for more people a trustful and successful business partner.

The idea to have an Open Day was borne last December during our traditional year end management party when I could personally greet only the extended Management. However Sharrcem does not consist of only Management there are more than 500 employees who are striving for excellence every day to make Sharrcem so successfully. Thus the idea rose to organize a party for everybody who is involved with Sharrcem.

Company Sharrcem is known as a serious company, professional and very successful, achieving extraordinary improvements during the 9 years of its operation. Technical and environmental improvements have reached a very high level due to investments made by the company and dedication of workers. Major achievements have been recorded in safety at work where accidents at work have fallen in 0. Sharrcem is also known for financing many community projects and individual support. 

For all these achievements the citizens were informed indirectly, through the media, various meetings, our monthly Bulletin and through our employees. But unlike these information sources, Sharrcem this time decided to inform the citizens directly about the improvements in the plant, by enabling them to see the improvements closely, even to enable them a plant tour so they can be aware about our production process and other operational premises in the plant. On this occasion Company organized an Open Day with a lot of activities where everybody was welcomed. 

The open day was organized on 30th May 2009 starting at 12.00.

Management along with all workers was involved in the welcoming of guests and other organizational commitments. 

All employees together with their family participated in this event, as well as local authorities, representatives of police and KFOR, representatives of various institutions and many citizens that reach a number around 4000 people. For all attendees Sharrcem had open doors, welcomed everybody with cultural activities, food and drinks, as well as a symbolic gift a T-shirt and a heat with Sharrcem logo was distributed to the guests. 

CEO of the company Mr. Patrick Stapfer opened an event greeting all the attendees, thanking local authorities and all others involved to the Sharrcem, especially employees that without their dedication would not have been here where we are today. Mr. Patrick mentioned achievements in all sectors of the plant, contribution given to the community, donations and he pledge for the continuation of these supports. Than he invited Mr. Zharku Minister of Trade and Industry to officially open an event. Mr.Zharku thanked Sharrcem for organizing this important event and he considered Holcim as a very serious and successful investor who might be a good example for other foreign investors. 

Event went according to planed scheme with music, food, drinks and other attractive shows. 

Children also had the opportunity to see the environment where their parents and relatives work to offer them a better future. They have spent their day playing in the improvised garden with a lot of toys. 

Open day was organized in honor of employees, for the community in general and all others involved to Sharrcem.
